It seems like business is still getting hit hard. Is anybody seeing an upswing in their respective niches? Health reform seems like a mess. I generate long term care insurance leads and annuity leads for the insurance industry, but volume has been terrible in the last two months. I am afraid the worst is yet to come, but maybe it is just my attitude.

Excellent post. Wish more people would read this. Just saw a great post: "If employees do not get their job done because they are on Facebook, it is no different from poor performance for other reasons."

I love the availability for patients with similar diseases/diagnoses/in the same situation to be able to talk to each other. I'm sure that it is therapeutic to talk with others who are in your shoes.

Patients like convenience. Being able to find a doctor, schedule an appointment, and fill out forms online is going to be the future of health care. Doctors need to realize how important social media is going to be, for their business to remain successful.

Hi Valerie,
Thanks to you and the LTC team for your recent new feature the "Breaking New Alerts". I have read and enjoyed them all, but this one in particular is especially jam packed with a great deal of useful and sought after information. Thanks for sharing it with us; it should be part of all of our libraries of “critical information”.
Thanks again for providing the resources to us, and keeping us motivated to succeed in the world of web 2.0 marketing in the senior/elder care markets.

Sincerely,

I think this is such a great article. My parents lived in FL and one Christmas we gave Mom and computer. She was a secretary and used a typewriter like no one else. Boy could she type. So we thought she would love a pc and e-mail. Her exact words when she opened the package was "What am I going to do with that?"

In a few weeks she was e-mailing all of us and wondering why she didn't have an inbox full of mail. It was a great thing for her!! It kept her in touch with us kids on more frequent basis.

Totally agree with your points above. I read recently that Facebook has introduced private groups for families. Have you seen any elder care connections there yet? Are companies leveraging this to create mini/sub communities to connect care?

This article and your points are right on it. Those who aren't doing it, especially in a tough economy will be left behind. Sometimes it's difficult for senior companies to realize how the rest of business is doing things. The people in these businesses are their next clients. You have a great program to help people participate in this.
